Windows media centre?

We are thinking of getting a Windows Media centre. Does anybody else have one and / or have an opinion of them. It would replace our cable TV package and remove the monthly payment, but would mean a one off fee to set it up.

I cannot speak about the quality of this app, as i've never used it, but I am pretty sure that the Windows Media Centre will not replace your cable TV package or your monthly payment. If you still want to view live TV, you will need to keep your cable subscription. What WMC will allow you to do is to stream music, video, pictures and live TV (view and record) on multiple devices on your home network.

I suspect a Windows Media Centre installation, as Francesco says, will not replace a cable package.

You will likely be able to access freeview channels, depending on how it is set up, and any online streaming services (iPlayer, 4OD, ITVPlayer etc) but unless you're paying for a subscription it won't include things like Sky One, Subscription Sports/Movies etc.
