I hesitate with programming apps which are specifically branded for girls or boys as I think they should only be branded according to age. Too many products take the 'pink it and shrink it' approach to getting girls interested in something. Hopscotch though (and I have used it) seems to be useful for both girls and boys. Ultimately though its appeal to girls will come not from the app itself but from how it is used and whether they see any value in it.
