Is anyone tempted by an ultra HD or 4K television?

A new generation of 8 megapixel screens are coming. Would you like one in your lounge? If yes, why? If not, why not?

The burning question... what are you going to feed it with?

The truly lamentable thing, is the missed opportunity in going digital, with the UK Digital systems being mostly based on 625 line interlaced (with a few HD channels), when the CRT based TVs (where interlacing truly worked well) pretty much dead in favour of LCD (for which interlacing is just stupid).

I guess building on the bones of the old Ondigital / ITV digital resulted in an "if I were you, I wouldn't start from here" situation - and since many of the old boxes were rendered useless by an update, maybe it would have been better if they'd buried the old system and started from scratch.

On the other hand, it would be a bad move to have a supersize screen that is not UHD capable, as within the lifetime of the screen, UHD content will probably become cheaper and more widely available

Yes - very tempted. But I have been around exciting technology before and thankfully I tend to let the early adopters learn for me ...
