How do you find out what your child wants for Christmas?

As a parent do you often ask yourself, what does my child want for Christmas. Parents ask this question every year when the Christmas rolls around. All a parent has to do is listen and give that perfect gift that light up faces Christmas Day. But how do you know what they really want? Do you encourage them to use any Christmas gift planner like Pinterest?

I ask really obvious searching questions(!). I've tried to encourage them to write Christmas lists, but only my daughter (12) did and all it said was 'iPhone 5S'. Good luck with that one, darling.

We don't watch a lot of real time TV, so we don't really see a lot of ads for them to respond to (and I'm not enamoured with that approach anyway). Obviously I know what they're into and I know (from Quibly!) that if they like, for example, Skylanders they're likely to enjoy Disney Infinity, and I also look at gift guides (like ours - click Shop above, hint hint) but really it's a combination of asking, researching and intuition. And luck.
