How can I help my son identify birds' eggs and flowers?
My youngest (5) is very outdoorsy and we love finding flowers or egg shells on the floor and trying to identify them. I realise this is very niche, but does anyone know any good apps or websites aimed at a young audience that help identify nature bits and bobs? Also, just to be really clear, we don't go looking for birds' eggs, purely abandoned egg shells. I know my Country Code!

Hi Holly, there are a few different apps available that you and your son may enjoy using to help identify the flowers and egg shells you find on your travels. For example, FlowerPedia has a 'flower identification' function as well as lots of information about flowers, photographs etc. For identifying birds eggs, then the only one I'm aware of is the Bird Egg Identification Guide. I've not used it and the reviews don't look great, but you may be better off looking at something like the British Wildlife Wiki site or the site suggested below.
It's wonderful your son is taking such an interest in nature and you're encouraging his curiosity and desire to understand. Hope this helps!
However, in general 'nature' terms including flowers etc. then I'd recommend a site like the Woodland Trust's Nature Detectives which is packed full of activities for children right through all the seasons and has resources such as 'spotter sheets', themed activities, and free downloads
