Our experts - parenting-skills
It's hard to know whose opinion to trust, especially when it comes to our kids. So we’ve brought together a rich variety of experts from the worlds of education, gaming, child development, online safety, technology, family therapy and more to add professional knowledge and experience to the conversation.
I live with my family in Athens, Greece. Following a long career in communications and journalism, I still work with and for people, researching and providing the true, kind and necessary information with the focus on children’s first relationships within the family, with mother and parents.
I work with families and children towards their personal development and empowerment, through the non-profit organization Photodentra (Trees of Light) and the online parents’ magazine Photodentro (Tree of Light, at www.photodentro.gr).
I recently introduced Simplicity Parenting community in Greece, by facilitating parents' groups and by translating Kim John Payne’s Simplicity Parenting book in Greek (www.goneisapla.gr). Walking on the enlightening path of simplicity, I have found inspiration and insight that I feel privileged to be sharing with the families I work with.
My name is Ellie Hirsch, also known as Ellie, The Mommy Master®. I founded MommyMasters.com to help moms (and dads) to master motherhood. I offer parenting tips, tricks and tools, as well as a platform for mompreneurs looking to build their business. Some of the tools I offer includes my award winning children's CD, "Music is Magical, Children's Songs with Ellie", available at MommyMasters.com and iTunes. From potty training to manners, the first day of school to cleaning up and more, my music is a wonderful parenting and teaching tool that helps introduce important topics to children. It recently won a Parents' Choice Award and continues to receive rave reviews. In addition to relevant articles and advice, you will find the series, "A Dad's Perspective" at MommyMasters.com, which allows us women to hear what dads have to say about all things parenting. Our initiative, The Mommy Master of the Month, has become quite popular and gives women the opportunity to promote their business at no charge. Many women approach me because they are afraid of failing at parenthood and I provide them with the confidence and reassurance in overall parental decision making. I teach women that it's okay to fail and that no one is the perfect parent. Some days you will be a Mommy Master and others, a Mommy Disaster, and that is okay. As a parenting expert, I am often quoted in popular online and print parenting magazines and can be seen on 10News Tampa, as part of the Mom Squad, weighing in on important parenting related topics. You can also find me at the popular radio station Magic 94.9's blog every month, whipping up healthy and fun kid friendly ideas in the kitchen. I was born and raised in NY, received a degree in Family Studies from the University of Maryland, and now reside in Tampa with my three amazing little boys, husband and Goldendoodle.

I've been writing about parenting and television for over 15 years, both as a media critic and as a freelance journalist. My credits include CommonsenseMedia.org, L.A. Parent, the Maine Sunday telegraph, DirectTV The Guide, Catholic Parent and newspapers across the country. I started www.YourFamilyViewer.com to serve the parenting community, offering them ways to teach their children how to be effective media consumers while providing information on televised programming suitable for the whole family (as opposed to aimed at only kids or only adults).

I'm a Parenting Writer, Columnist, Blogger and Media Spokesperson who focuses on various aspects of parenting. Technology is near and dear to my heart and as a result, I've discussed the topic of Parenting in the Digital Age on both my blog (series) and other media outlets. The intersection of parenting and raising kids is one that I feel merits ongoing discussion as we are just at the beginning of this new world in which technology is front and centre in the lives of our kids. From home to school, work and beyond, it's a topic that we'll need to address as our children grow and move into different areas of their lives.
